American Gigolo Offends Indian Wowsers!
Shiva me timbers! Richard Gere has just annoyed the, er, be-Ganesha out of a pack of New Delhi lawyers for pashing Shilpa Shetty (and who wouldn't, if they had half a chance!) -- something that they reckon was an "obscene act" .
Well, good to know that he's recovered from his injury -- which, funnily enough, resulted from another (truly) obscene act during a film production not so long ago. (BTW, the rodent involved has also recovered fully, slimmed down and got his life back in order. He's now wowing 'em on the motivational speech circuit.)
But back to that risque kiss, and its context: whole thing is spookily familiar, isn't it? You may recall another decadent Western celebrity heading to India to raise awareness about AIDS and committing a widely publicised act on the way that could also be described as "obscene".
Just as well Gere didn't do what he did in front of those lawyers eh? They would have been waaay beyond offended then ...
