Blaze moi! Palace a pyre!

St Kilda landmark The Palace Nightclub has gone up in smoke. 

This is upsetting news.  I used to live just down the beach, and must have passed it a thousand times.  (Only saw one gig there, but.  Melody Lords, as I recall.)

Great place, St Kilda.  It's a lot like Coney Island -- er, but smaller, and without all the Noo Yawkers. 

I lived in this building, which I hope is still standing.  (I'm pretty sure it is, 'cause it looks like the photo in this story was taken from one of its units.)

Excuse me while I have a nostalgic little sook-sesh about that life I left so long ago ...
