Was wondering when some tragic feminist twit would claim sexism in the meeja's treatment of Belinda Neal.
Right on time Julia Irwin does just that:
"I just feel that we have opened up Pandora's box, and if these are the rules then every member of parliament, whether it be male or female, can expect the slightest incident to be reported and action to be taken."
These rules are fine by me, Jules. Labor has the finest quality boxes by far!
And sorry, babe, but the "patriarchy" had nothin' to do with this one. Belinda Neal has no one to blame but herself for this deluge of derision.
If there is selectivity in the reporting of pollies' shenanigans it's not gender-based, but ideological. Tory fellas who behave badly tend to get a relentless roasting while purportedly "reconstructed" types like Alan Carpenter usually get a limp little slap on the wrist.
And while we're on the subject of gender equity, I reckon it's time to give Belinda a nickname. (Latham, Howard, Buswell. They all got slapped with 'em!)
I think "The Beast" is a goodie.
Any other suggestions, people?
UPDATE: Dickhead Derek Sapphire thinks this post constitutes a hate crime. Reckons I'm being both sexist and speciesist here.
But it can only be one or the other, can't it?
Typical pinko. Always trying to have it both ways.
