Karratha: from biff to boom!

Not all that long ago Karratha had a reputation as one of the most depressing joints in the whole of Oz.  Tim Costello described it as "the domestic violence capital of Australia" and a "slag heap of despair".  

Karratha residents were more than a tad shat off at the time. But now it seems they're having the last laugh.  The joint is clearly no "slag heap of despair"; it's more an Everest of moolah -- a place where a friggin' cleaner can sweep up 100k a year!

Crikey.  I might head up there myself and get a gig at Macca's.
