We've all seen heaps of examples of moral relativism. Well, I just found what looks very much like biological relativism.
See, the RSPCA will be running an anti-animal cruelty ad featuring graphic images of domestic violence. The rationale seems to be that violence against, er, animal companions often occurs along with violence against women. As the article states, "many women stayed in abusive domestic relationships because they feared what their partner might do to their pet".
But what's more important, the welfare of humans or animals? Isn't the RSPCA ad quite clearly putting the cart before the horse puppy before the person here?
I'd say it'll be seen to trivialise the issue of domestic violence, rather than highlight the plight of critters. (Er, unless you're a barking animal rights activist, in which case you'll be thinking "it's about time!".)
