NOT MEANT TO BE TAKEN LITERALLY! If this blog is anything it's sit-down comedy. I don't break news stories. I rant, growl, quack on and joke about them. If you can't see where this blog is coming from you're an utter peckerhead.

The Chaser versus Today Tonight

posted Thursday, 15 November 2007

It's farce-orama in Oz TV Land, folks!

The Chaser team tempted fate at APEC, putting their empty heads in the cross-hairs of trigger-happy Seppo snipers, yet the closest they've come to suffering actual physical damage occurred when they were set upon by brimming desk jockeys from their own industry!  How ironic is that?  Well, they do say TV is cut-throat ...

Here's professional satirist state-subsidised tool Chas Licciardello:

"I was physically threatened by some rather exuberant Today Tonight staff and I can understand why they were so upset because I know how much Today Tonight gets bothered by people turning up with cameras when they’re not wanted."

That's rich coming from him. Turning up with cameras when he's not wanted is about the only thing the smug jerk ever does. (That and whopping on a silly wig, and delivering some lame lines ... badly.)

And what does this episode say about the other side?

Well, the first thought that came to my mind was: what's gonna happen to Anna Coren? She went along with the prank; her bosses won't be too impressed. Surely she's gonna get "boned" (or maybe that's more a Nine thing; maybe they "shaft" 'em at Channel 7?).

Well, she hasn't met that fate yet. Seems she has been downgraded, but, from "journalist" to "performer".

Revealing.

Your thoughts, people?
