This article about a Tassie tabby called Jelly who, when bitten by a lethal copperhead snake, nearly popped her paws but survived against the odds puts me in mind of another fortunate feline. I speak, of course, of that sinister Siamese cat Jocelyn, animal companion of my nemesis Derek Sapphire.
Contrary to Derek's pathetic denials, Jocelyn spends much of her time terrorizing native fauna. Gaia must be furious by now, and surely has Jocelyn marked for death. I suspect that the attack on Jelly will be replicated on Jocelyn before long.
Though part of me hopes that she cops it from a copperhead and kicks it there and then, I think it might be more satisfying if the vile familiar is put into a state of permanent paralysis instead. Catatonia would be so apt.
Don't you think, Derek?
